Announcing the 2013 St. Pius X Christmas Concert

As you will read in the bulletin this weekend, the time is quickly approaching for the annual Christmas Concert at St. Pius X to be held this year on Sunday, December 8th at 3:00pm featuring the St. Pius X Choir, School Children’s Choir, Handbells, and St. Pius  X Concert Orchestra. Tickets will go on sale after all Masses on November 2-3.

Ticket prices remain the same as last year – General Admission tickets for $25, Preferred Seating for $40, and Balcony Seating for $50 – however, this year we are pleased to offer free General Admission tickets to all students in high school and younger.

At this time we are seeking advertisements in the Concert Program and we ask your help and support in getting the word out to local businesses. An advertisement in the Concert Program would enable your business to reach more than 500 members of the Montville community – from St. Pius X and beyond.

The purpose of starting an advertising component in conjunction with the Christmas Concert at this time is two-fold. First, by inviting advertising for concerts at St. Pius X we are able to offer free tickets for children. Second, it is our goal that the presentation of community concerts at St. Pius X will grow and expand in the days ahead. Building a solid foundation today will allow for future concerts at St. Pius X.

Advertising information is available here.

Thank you for your time and consideration. I hope to see you at the concert on December 8th!

New Gloria Starts This Weekend

This weekend at all Masses we will have the opportunity to sing a new setting of the Gloria. It is from A New Mass for Congregations by Carroll Andrews and it is #319 in our Gather hymnals. Once we learn it as a parish community, it will be a shorter and more direct version than some of the settings used in the past. It is my hope then, that after taking a few weeks to learn it, we will truly be able to pray the prayer together in song at Mass.

There is a generic audio recording available by clicking here and a video below. As with all things, the music will have its own life within our own community based on our parishioners, our instruments, and our church building and acoustics.
